We’re Settled
!
I think since last we spoke we:
Celebrated Halloween
Sort of settled into the new house.
Went to “Children’s Paradise” which is a crazy giant park with slides and ziplines and dirt and happiness and always an octopus slide
.
Went shopping. Did a LOT of shopping.
Went to the local park which has a monster “roller slide”. Roller Slide is a big thing here that I’m not used to seeing in Hawaii. Not sure if America has them. Japan has metal, roller, plastic and concrete slides.
And now everyone’s sick.
I don’t think it’s covid (it might be) but Marcus, Maxi and Yoshiko
Winter’s here and everyone’s sick!
Well, I’m not but Yoshiko is taking Maxi and Marcus to the clinic today. None of them are feeling well. I don’t think it is COVID. It seems to be tied to the change in the weather and a bunch of Hawaii transplants not knowing how to stay warm in the cold. As far as Covid goes, EVERYONE here wears masks and uses publicly available hand sanitizers ALL the time, and I haven’t heard of anything being closed down or having a Covid hotspot. The idea that everyone is responsible for everyone is part of the reason I wanted to be here; to have the kids grow up with that ethic.
LOVE STORY UPDATE
In Way More Interesting News: Marcus has been receiving notes from a girl at school! She told him she wants to be a Doctor and asked him what is his favorite food is. Also, he only wears Minecraft T-shirts (the way I only wore T&C shirts in Elementary school. Thrilla Gorilla!) So she drew a minecraft creeper on the letter.
He responded and then she wrote back. THEN he wore a “pikachu” costume for school halloween and THE NEXT DAY she gave him a handmade pikachu craft. Is it too early to welcome a doctor to the family? There’s still the girl whose family runs a Chinese restaurant at the old school. We haven’t talked to her for a minute though…
Will keep you updated. Sorry for the delay!
I thought I was a subscriber, but I guess I was only an email subscriber. Now I am a direct subscriber here, I think.
Mahalos for the update 🙏
